J Setzer Pty Ltd (ABN 33 636 546 104), trading as J Setzer ("we", "us", "our"), respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit jsetzer.pro, contact us or work with us. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Where it applies to you, we also respect your rights under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Information we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our business. This may include:
- Contact form details: your name, email address, company, role, area of interest and the message you send us.
- Technical information: when you submit the contact form we record your approximate country (derived from your IP address) and your browser's user-agent string, to help us prevent spam and abuse. Our hosting provider may also process IP addresses and request data in server logs for security and performance.
- Correspondence and client information: details you share with us by email, phone, video call or in the course of an engagement, such as business contact details and information about your organisation.
You can visit our website without telling us who you are. We do not use analytics or advertising tracking on this website, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and communicate with you;
- prepare proposals and deliver our consulting and sales services;
- manage our client relationships, invoicing and records;
- protect our website and services against spam, fraud and misuse; and
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing emails without your consent. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent, the steps needed to enter into or perform a contract with you, our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and running our business, and compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the website against malicious traffic. These do not identify you personally.
Who we share information with
We only disclose personal information to trusted service providers who help us run our website and business, and only to the extent they need it. These include:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, security, bot protection on our contact form (Turnstile), contact form database and email routing;
- Google Fonts — delivering the typefaces used on this site, which involves your browser requesting files from Google's servers;
- Our email and business software providers — receiving and managing correspondence; and
- Professional advisers — such as our accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and other countries where they operate data centres. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers protect personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, after which we securely delete or de-identify it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Access, correction and your rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. If the GDPR applies to you, you may also ask us to delete or restrict the use of your information, object to its use, request a copy in a portable format, or withdraw your consent at any time. We will respond within a reasonable period, and usually within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated.
