Digital Marketing Audit
Channel mix, spend allocation, funnel and commercial efficiency, reviewed end to end.
An independent verdict on your enterprise marketing
Senior-level audits, second opinions and ongoing guidance for enterprise marketing and digital leaders. We don't sell execution — so our advice carries no agenda.
Enterprise digital marketing runs through many hands: in-house teams, several agencies, platforms with their own targets and a reporting layer that rarely agrees with itself. Everyone involved has a view — and most of them have something to sell.
As an enterprise digital marketing consultant, J Setzer gives CMOs, CEOs, CFOs and boards a candid, evidence-based answer to the question that matters: is this working, and what should we do next?
Every engagement is led personally, at senior level, in English or German.
Each audit is scoped to the decision in front of you and delivered as an executive verdict, a detailed findings report and a prioritised plan.
Channel mix, spend allocation, funnel and commercial efficiency, reviewed end to end.
Technical health, content authority and international search visibility across markets.
Account structure, bidding, targeting and wastage across Google, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn.
Tracking integrity, attribution logic and whether your reporting can be trusted at board level.
Tools, integrations, consent and data flows — what earns its licence fee and what does not.
An impartial assessment of partner performance, contracts, fees and accountability.
A defined, time-boxed review of one or more areas of your digital marketing, answering a specific commercial question.
Before a budget cycle, a re-platform, a new agency or a new CMO.
A senior expert view on a decision already on the table — a strategy, a proposal, a forecast or a vendor shortlist.
When you are being asked to approve something and want it pressure-tested.
Fractional senior counsel on call — keeping strategy, agencies and in-house teams aligned and accountable over time.
For leaders who want a trusted, independent voice in the room every quarter.
Focused workshops that give leadership teams a shared, jargon-free understanding of digital performance and priorities.

We are deliberately not an agency. That is what lets us tell you when the work is good, when it isn't, and when the answer is to spend less.
An enterprise digital marketing consultant reviews how your marketing budget, channels, agencies and measurement are performing and tells leadership what to change. In our view, the most valuable thing a consultant can deliver at enterprise level is not more activity but an independent verdict: what is working, what is not, and where money is being wasted. We diagnose and advise; your teams and agencies execute.
Market rates vary enormously, from hourly freelancers to six-figure strategy-firm engagements. We quote a fixed fee for audits and independent opinions, scoped to the decision in front of you, and a monthly fee for advisory retainers. Our honest advice: judge the fee against the budget it governs. A few percent of misallocated spend on a large media budget usually dwarfs the cost of an outside view.
They do different jobs. An agency is paid to execute, which means it has a natural incentive to recommend more work, more channels and more spend. A consultant who does not sell execution can tell you when the work is good, when it is not, and when the right answer is to spend less. Most enterprises need both — they just should not be the same company.
The best moments are before a decision becomes expensive: ahead of a budget cycle, a re-platform, an agency pitch or a new CMO's first 100 days. Another clear signal is when your agencies, platforms and finance team all report different numbers. If nobody can say with confidence what is working, an independent audit is usually cheaper than another year of guessing.
Ask who will actually do the work, how they are paid, and whether they earn commissions or referral fees from anything they recommend. Ask whether they would ever tell you to cut a channel or keep your current agency. And ask to see what the final deliverable looks like. If the answer is a hundred-page deck, keep looking — leadership needs a verdict it can act on.
Yes. An audit is not a witch hunt, and often the conclusion is that an agency is doing good work that is being measured badly. We work with in-house teams and agencies to get the evidence, then give leadership an impartial view of performance, fees and accountability.
Yes. We work with enterprise clients worldwide, in English or German, and every engagement is led personally at senior level.
